About This Program

What You'll Learn

Course Description

Painting Classes at Nirakara introduce you to color as a language. You will learn color theory — mixing primaries into clean secondaries and natural neutrals, and understanding warm-cool relationships, value and saturation. Each track centres on a medium: the luminous transparency and wet-on-wet flow of watercolor, the bold opacity and layering of acrylic, or the freedom of combining inks, pastels and collage in mixed media.

Through guided studio projects you apply technique to real subjects: landscapes, florals, still life and simple portraits. We emphasise composition, brush control, glazing and texture, and you finish each track with several completed paintings ready to frame or display.

Key Benefits

  • Master color mixing, value and warm-cool color relationships
  • Learn medium-specific technique: washes, glazing, layering, texture
  • Develop strong composition and focal-point skills
  • Build confidence with brushwork and paint handling
  • Complete several frame-ready finished paintings
  • Discover your own style and subject preferences
FAQ

Frequently Asked
Questions

Still have questions? We're here to help you choose the right program for your journey.

01Which medium should I start with?
We usually suggest watercolor or acrylic for beginners. Acrylic is forgiving and dries fast, while watercolor teaches control; our faculty will help you choose.
02Are paints and brushes included?
Studio paints and shared palettes are available for the first few sessions. We then provide a curated supply list so you can build your own kit affordably.
03Can I switch tracks after finishing one?
Absolutely. Many students complete watercolor and then move to acrylic or mixed media; your color and composition skills carry across all of them.
04Do you teach from photo references or live setups?
Both. We use still-life arrangements and live floral or object setups in class, and also guide you on working from your own photo references.
